Flush valve cable issue

Hi everyone,
I am having an issue, whereby my toilet water continues to run after it has been flushed. Initially, it would stop after I would press the flush button continuously. This is no longer the case.
I detached the flush valve cable from the flush button and could see what the issue is.
It seems that the flush valve cable is not springing back once it has been pressed.
I tried cleaning the coil be it did not make a difference.
Is there any way of fixing this?

Lubricate the lever and bend the return spring to strengthen it or buy a new flush mechanism they aren't expensive.

The spring is in place and kind of working, but maybe not as strong as it used to be. My thoughts were to replace that spring for a new one, which may make it stronger and solve my issue. Is there anywhere that sells that spring?
