Foam gun dismounting

Hi all
I have (had) one of those 25 quid foam guns from screw fix.
If I dismount the can, part of the nozzle of the can gets left in the gun and I have to dig it out. How can I stop that happened? I want to be able to take it out cleanly.


For background I normally only remove finished cans so I just chuck the can out and dig the end bit from the gun, but this time it's a nearly full can and I only removed it to unblock the ball bearing.
When I tried to reassemble the chewed up parts I just covered the area with foam and ended up chucking the gun in the bin.

Mine does the same, there's a white tip and a rubber seal that stays in the gun.

I could only guess that giving it a really good clean and leaving the can on for as little time as possible might help.
