Just got a Ford Focus 51 reg and its got a strange problem which initially I thought was just the drivers door lock issue.

I had to climb in via the back door as neither the 2 front doors would unlock with the key.

If i turn the key to unlock in either of the front doors nothing happens if i climb in and unlock the doors with the unlock button all the doors unlock, if i then try to lock it with a key all the doors lock with the central locking.

I am suspecting something on the central locking but not sure.

I only have one key (blue top) so not even sure if its remote locking or not.

Hope i have described the fault ok?

I bought the car really cheap so expect to spend something on it but would rather DIY if possible.

The model is the diesel CL it has extras like aircon etc

most fords around that period were known for damp.had same problem. remove door trim on drivers door dry contacts and switches down outer edge of door then spray with wd40 that should cure it

Have flooded the locks and handle gap with wd40 and its started working or at least the drivers side has, not bothered about the passenger side but will leave it a couple of days and do the same with that again.

Had to flick over the key quite a few times but now it works every time

Thanks
