folding outdoor table

hi, i want to build an outdoor folding table. I am happy with the 'doing', and have the design sorted.... but i don't know what to do with the timber... should i use 'any' treated timber, then stain it. Or should i buy cedar or oak or a proper timber and will it cost me mega bucks?
 
Cedar can be a bit soft, Oak can blacken easily. I would go with Iroko, just done some outside seating and a bridge in it.
