Our footing was poured a couple of weeks back on the hottest day of the year so far. Today weve been outside and noticed a crack in the footing across it. The footing were about 4and half foot deep. Think maybe 1m+ the council Person came out and was happy before they were filled up with concrete to the top.
Now we dug a little at the side and it does go down the side what we dug.

Obviously we now have alarm bells ringing in our head that this hasnt been done right by our builder?

What needs to be done here?

He poured the footings and then went back to finish another job and will be returning to ours on the 1st August. On the phone he said dont worry sometimes there will be small cracks

nothing

its a shrinkage crack, it wont go all the way down

the foundation doesnt need to be 1 metre deep -it only actually needs to be about 250mm, but these days its cheaper and easier to mass fill to save having to lay blocks down in a muddy trench. What counts is having the concrete foundation sitting on stable ground with decent load bearing capacity.

The wife is now smiling after reading your comment. Shes been telling me to demand the builder comes round asap and looks at it
