Hi all,

just received the first draft footing drawings from teh architect and the following comment was on the drawing:-

Eccentrically loaded foundations700x700 trench fill to a depth of1000mm below new ground level subject to site inspection and
approval of BCO

New foundation required for new internal wall Trench foundation along side the existing foundation and to be approved on site by BCO.
( Typical trench foundation would be 600 x 800 concrete to a depth of 1000mm depending on site conditions )

What exactly is the depth of the footings he is recommending here?

Thanks

Andy

Only a DIY'er, but the convention I know is width comes before height.

Trench one - dig a hole a metre deep (from current ground level) by 700mm wide and fill it with a 700mm thickness of concrete.
Trench two - dig a hole a metre deep by 600mm wide and fill it with an 800mm thickness of concrete (depending on site conditions)

Although the scale on your drawings might give you a clue.
