Ford Escort 1998 - Unknown part causing a vacuum leak

Hi everyone!

I've been doing in the past few days some maintenance work on my car (Escort 1998 SE 2.0L SOHC) and, after now having a car that runs smoother and stronger than ever, I have been searching for a possible vacuum leak after reading positive long-term fuel trims at idle.

I listened to the engine through a spare hose and managed to find the source of a vacuum leak. The part that seems to leak is unkown to me, despite a pretty long research on the internet tonight.

I could take a better and closer picture tomorrow on my own car if that helps.

Well, I found another picture on google that gives a closer view (green arrow) :

The sound seems to be coming from the end of the part, where the arrow is pointing. If anyone knew what that part is, it'd allow me to fix that leak!

Its difficult to tell on the photos but it could be a pcv valve or breather of some kind?

It looks like it is the brake booster check valve. I managed to find the part online (F7CZ2365CA or F7CZ2365BA), although I'm going to try to make sure it's causing a vacuum. Even though there is a clear hissing sound when I listen to the part through a hose, it doesn't seem to suck in water and change idle at all when I spray it around.

It this kind of check valve (often they are directly attached to the brake booster) supposed to produce a hissing sound?

Double check that its the vacuum brake boost pipe, because it seems to be going to the air box? If so its to far away from the inlet manifold to get a vacuum for the brake servo, so probably as already said, positive ventilation for the sump.
Again that pipe going into the air box/pipe will not leak, because it hasn't a vacuum in it to leak.
But I just might be looking at the wrong pipe ...........
