Ford Escort LX - knocking sound from front right wheel

My Escort (1995) makes a loud knocking sound at the front right wheel when I turn right or left. It also makes it sometimes when I have just started the car and have began to accelerate away. It is ok on the straight. Could it be a bearing that's worn?

Any ideas ?

regardless of whether you have just started it or not, hot or cold, it will be the driveshaft outer CV joint thats at fault.

if you are able to fix your own car and have car mech skills it would take a day, if taking it to a garage then shop around for a good price and insist that you see the old item upon collection.
