ford fiesta 1.4 dsl cutting out when driving

hi can someone help me please when driving the car cuts out and will start again straight way the battery light will come on but thats it have any ideas what it could be

Do you mean you can be driving along, and the thing just cuts out, or does it tend to stall on tickover - at a traffic light or similar?

hi john when driving along it will cut out the last time it happenend was when i was slowing down to about 30km when it cut out

Gawd not what you want at all.....personally I've no idea what the fault could be, but I do know that Fords have had numerous software updates on this system. It could be worth having a chat with a service manager at a local dealership first, and take it from there.
If I was to guess I'd say throttle position sensor or a fuel pump relay but I wouldn't like to start throwing parts at the car.
