Ford Fiesta Heater blower faulty

I have a 53 Ford Fiesta Diesel and the heater blower does not work correctly.
I does not work on settings 1,2,3 but does work on the highest 4.

does anyone have any ideas before I have to get a Garage to have a look

On my Citroen I've been told that there is a speed regulator circuit on the blower motor itself which uses a couple of transistors, they can go intermittent and then open circuit or close it meaning only the highest level would work but no others.
Depending where this is in your fiesta and if its a similar set up is the problem, some mean removing the whole dash and can cost alot in labour although the part is pretty cheap.

That is so for the Citroen but I think that the Ford has a simple resistor system as a seperate unit. I don't think they are expensive but dont know where they are located, usually fairly easy to get at on a Ford.

It may just be blocked. I actually have the same problem nearly. Mine only works warm on 1, and it only works on a warm day. I was told that there could be some kind of blockage. So i would take a look at hat first before you start paying a garage to do it.

Sounds like the heater blower resistor has failed
