ford focus cl 16v key fob

hi, my daughter has just brought a 2002 ford focus hatchback and the main key will not work in drivers door. it will work in passengers door and open central locking. what can I do to fix it?

has the lock been changed?
or it just doesnt open on the remote on that side?
if so then check for broken wires in the door gaitor.

as far as I know the lock has not been changed. the key turns in the door but won't open. when I took the key fob apart to change battery there looks as if there is something missing in the chamber thing....

so it doesnt open any doors on remote?
if so then it sounds as it the pats chip could be missing?
do you not have a spare?

The rear of the door lock should be connected to the locking mechanism via a connecting rod, Remove the inside door cover and check if it has come adrift.

as above if the key feels as if it turning in the lock properly then it has to be a link mechanism to actuator problem
