I have a Ford Galaxy 2004 1.9 auto, when driving the engine management light comes on then a message saying emissions 1 and the losses power, when we switch of and restart its ok for a while, can any body help with this problem,

Standard reply - get the fault codes read I think.
could be the maf that needs replacing,but as said your clutching at straws without the codes being read,
you can buy a lead from ebay and download the free software from the ross tech website this will allow you to read quite a few of the modules.
dont forget if you need parts check out the vw parts dept as yours has a vw pd engine.
