i have just bought a transit tipper from the council and have found two electric out lets on the rear tow hitch nect to the actual power for trailer etc , these are 3pin not like house plug butlike the ones you get on commercial plant , now my question is what is the likely power rating from these ie 110 or 230
any help would be appreciated
Regards
MIKE

no as they are metal with a flap , i have looked all over them but cant see any markings ,

If it's anything like the transco vans with an engine driven compressor/generator, they will be 110v. Equally, they may be some form of specialist trailer or control connection.

i have traced the wires back but they get lost under the cab
here is a cpl of pics
i have created a folder called transit there in there

110V in yellow
230V in blue..

note the pin configuration in relation to the locating lug at the bottom..

ok. so it's not 110 or 240, or at least not convention connectory for that..
might be 24V...

Are they both the same, it may be a backup power for the tipper mechanism.

They look like commercial vehicle trailer sockets.
Maybe they are in parallel with the other tow bar sockets?
This would enable the transit to tow a cable drum trailer or
similar and plug strait in to the road lights on the trailer.
