What does it signify when the member's name remains in bold type but is not searchable? It's helpful to search against certain members for their knowledge but some suddenly disappear. Are they dead? Have they had their posts removed? Do they request it?

I thought it meant they’ve deleted their account but their posts remain so as to be searchable in the future.

Yes, it’s when’s accounts have been deleted, but as Mottie states, posts remain searchable. You can search by forum member in the search bar, however this brings up quite a number of returns.

The posts remain but the search feature by name isn't available it would seem.

You can’t search by member name as they’re not classed as being a member, but if you search their name - if you know how it was - Eg EddieM is no longer a member, but search exactly as I have just typed it, then it will return posts associated with him.

Yes, a search of a name reveals posts about a member not by him.
