Good news and bad news. I found the problem with my dampness. Had a bloke come round and told me ive got rising damp so all walls up to 3 ft need to be stripped back and tanked. The cost £6000
He assures me this will end the damp.
Was up in the 3rd floor bathroom and there is a false wall didnt realise at first. Anyway behind the wall is very damp looked up and lots of salt and mould just behind the slates. Also cracks in the plaster in roof going in straight line .
Also few of the floor boards are very wet and crumbley. Under the toilet massive damp spot floor boards and joist really wet also same with sink.
When i bought the house the vender had said there had been no conversions and had signed in the questioner there had been no conversions done. Is this deception and misrepresentation? also my mortgage advisor told me there were no conversions.
So got conned on that one im a first time buyer so they screwed me.
How much would it cost to replace a roof not to sure if it can be repaired thoe it maybe able to.
So the tanking would not of solved the damp problem .
