The 16mm 3core SWA is actually the feed, it is fed from a barn some 40m away. That barn is fed with 6mm T+E overhead from the house. The 50mm 3 core running approx 15m to another barn.

Do you think the cable sizes are a little oddly chosen ;D

I also had to replace a consumer unit today - Here's the one I took out. Could not take a photo of it in situ really.

One thing that I could easilly see happening is someone puts in a long run and uses up most of the volt drop budget. Then someone comes along later wants to extend further.

That someone has two choices, use a very large cable to keep the volt drop right down or replace the first run (which may be very difficult if it's direct burried)
