In short, probably not.. it will sink over time.. how much it sinks will depend on what you hit underground and the amount of water in the soil over the years..
Best get a spade and do some digging if you are still in soft easy to dig soil then keep going.. you can always backfill with some hardcore or type 1.. stop and rethink if you get more than about 500mm down..
