Yes, I agree.
But the whole meat slaughter business isn't as neat and nice as some pretend.

I went to a local slaughter house to quote for a job, I came away questioning whether I should eat meat again, stuff of nightmares. I never quoted eitherYes, I agree.

...a mere tip of the iceberg.but slaughter without pre-stunning is

It is barbaric to think that stunning the animal first isn’t important. It is the very least that we can do to respect the animal....a mere tip of the iceberg.

You can tell the difference?Surely the meat quality is affected by any pain or suffering the animal endures? Pre stun slaughter is not only more 'humane' but also better for the end product

I once saw a video of dogs being killed by a Chinese chef who laid them out flat on the ground and beat them to death with a baseball bat. He insisted that the meat tastes better when it was traumatised. Absolute *******. I have never got that image out of my head and those poor little dogs just laid there whilst he did it.Surely the meat quality is affected by any pain or suffering the animal endures? We don't know which meat we eat comes from which processYou can tell the difference

That's the Orientals for you, no value of human or animal lifeI once saw a video of dogs being killed by a Chinese chef who laid them out flat on the ground and beat them to death with a baseball bat. Never had any tough pork ?We don't know which meat we eat comes from which process
But occasionally we have a very tough chicken breast, from major supermarket. I'd venture that it had undergone cruel treatment, as it's documented that pain and suffering affects tenderness and colour

I entirely agree, but some bits are worse than others, and what's wrong in highlighting the worst, especially when it is done for some pointless religious ritualThe whole slaughter business is. Don't sit there on your sanctimonious, conveniently shielded, UK perch and think it isn't.
yes very much so - adrenalin is released in the body and taints the meatSurely the meat quality is affected by any pain or suffering the animal endures? Pre stun slaughter is not only more 'humane' but also better for the end product
may be you can direct us to where someone has said in this thread that non religious slaughter is without its horrors ?Read the thread

So why is 1 system better or worse than any other ?I entirely agree, but some bits are worse than others, and what's wrong in highlighting the worst, especially when it is done for some pointless religious ritual

there is a farm near me who specialised in Aberdeen Angus for high end restaurants in the likes of Edinburgh and London. They have there own slaughter house on the farm so as the animal don't get remotely stressed before slaughter, no transport, nothing unusual, they walk through a door they have walked through many times, click it over.
we sometimes buy direct from them, triple the price of the supermarkets - but its nice, its the very best - and we also know the animal has had a wonderful life.
