Fox hunting season

Those that wish to point a deflective “look at those squirrels” finger at Jews and Muslims.

My personal view is that all slaughter of animals is unpleasant, but slaughter without pre-stunning is abhorrent and should be banned. As far as I'm concerned the Jews would have to source their meat from elsewhere, as would a large number of Muslims.

I did pull JohnD up on laying the blame for un-stunned animal deaths solely on the Jews, when the reality is that 94 million animals are killed this way in the UK each year and there are only 290,000 Jews in this country.

JohnD was simply jumping on an opportunity to voice his opinions about how disgusting Jews are, on a thread about fox hunting.

Surely the meat quality is affected by any pain or suffering the animal endures? Pre stun slaughter is not only more 'humane' but also better for the end product

You can tell the difference?

And before you bite, I'm not suggesting 1 system is better than any other.

Meat production is a business, corners get cut if it saves money, regardless of who, where, why.

Look at the examples of insiders exposing mistreatment etc

I once saw a video of dogs being killed by a Chinese chef who laid them out flat on the ground and beat them to death with a baseball bat. He insisted that the meat tastes better when it was traumatised. Absolute *******. I have never got that image out of my head and those poor little dogs just laid there whilst he did it.

We don't know which meat we eat comes from which process

But occasionally we have a very tough chicken breast, from major supermarket. I'd venture that it had undergone cruel treatment, as it's documented that pain and suffering affects tenderness and colour

That's the Orientals for you, no value of human or animal life

Never had any tough pork ?

The whole slaughter business is. Don't sit there on your sanctimonious, conveniently shielded, UK perch and think it isn't.
I entirely agree, but some bits are worse than others, and what's wrong in highlighting the worst, especially when it is done for some pointless religious ritual

yes very much so - adrenalin is released in the body and taints the meat

there is a farm near me who specialised in Aberdeen Angus for high end restaurants in the likes of Edinburgh and London. They have there own slaughter house on the farm so as the animal don't get remotely stressed before slaughter, no transport, nothing unusual, they walk through a door they have walked through many times, click it over.

we sometimes buy direct from them, triple the price of the supermarkets - but its nice, its the very best - and we also know the animal has had a wonderful life.

may be you can direct us to where someone has said in this thread that non religious slaughter is without its horrors ?

So why is 1 system better or worse than any other ?
