Framing a dormer?

Evening all, just wondering if I could get some info on framing a dormer.

Just wanted to know what timbers are typically used, some say 4x4 posts and others say 4x2.

Appreciate any comments

It all depends on size and design, but 4" x 2" would be my choice for stub and full framing stud work, the roof timbers however could be lighter...pinenot
