Freeing a seized central heating pump

If removing the screw to try freeing a central heating pump. One that's not in the boiler is an s plan. Do I need to kill the power to the pump before doing this?

yes. You won't get a shock from it, but you don't want it to start spinning with your screwdriver stuck in it.

Personally wouldn't bother to isolate. They are very low powered and unlikely to damage you or the screwdriver.

personnally I do it with the system powered and a demand for the pump that way you know in an instant when it is free , you will feel it and hear the water moving once free, just remember to put a decent sized towel below the pump as some water will come out, and a good idea to turn the boiler thermostat to min when doing it
