I may be about to be branded unhinged, but what do you think?

Find a 6m container, fit a shutter or door one end, and use as a garage where it will not be needed permanently or if I am a cheapskate.

2.4m high, so no PD if more than 5m from the house and 1m from the boundary.
Probably no concrete slab needed.
Paint dark green or brown.
Naturally watertight.
2m fence plus a trellis top with ivy to hide it from neighbours if necessary.
Solar power or an extension cable when needed, possibly to drive a dehumidifier.

The only problem I can see is that an internal width of 2.2-2.3m is tight on one side for a normal car.

And then if necessary it can be taken to the next place easily.

Comments are welcome, as the brain is just free-running.

I'm sure you won't be the first to do it.

Not sure why you want to change the original doors though, a roller door will not fit/seal anywhere near as well, or be as secure.

I had the same idea for my motorbikes untill i remembered i dont have enough rear access and it would have to be craned over the house!

yes, but condensation will be a problem as these containers are supposed to be sea-tight.

There are various anticondensation coatings you can get, and add ventilation, rather than paying to run a dehumidifier.

You can also get higher than standard height containers.

The boss of the last company I worked for had one of these containers in the corner of his warehouse, he used to lock all his toys in (Motorbikes). I'm not sure what you'd be keeping in there, but I'd look at cutting some ventilation in the thing, we used to overpowered by petrol fumes everytime we opened the thing :?
