Hi
I am hoping for a little advice. I currently have Hive 2 heating and have bought the kit to switch to Evohome system. Hive has a single relay in my airing cupboard, which controls water and heating. My evohome kit came with a hot water kit. I was hoping, perhaps naively that this would be easy enough for a non DIYer like myself. Looking online at diagrams, it looks like the Hive relay has HW On/Off wires and CH On/Off wires. Is it not just a case of putting these wires to the correct pins in the Evohome relay? And do I need to use both relays (the hot water kit came with an identical relay to the CH kit) or can this all be wired up into one of them?

Any advice is appreciated. I am seeing my electrician tomorrow, but hoping this is a job I can do.

For God's sake don't let an electrician near it.

And without wanting to cause offence; based on the questions you've asked, I would say this is not a diy job for you either. Go on the Honeywell website and see if there is a SPECIALIST in your area. If there isn't then make sure the installer is an experienced one.

Gold badge = good with Evohome

Silver badge = "probably OK" with Evohome.

Thanks Dan. Any idea how much I can expect to pay to install this? I don't need them to setup the system as I think even I can do that.

Depends on many factors including what components you need.

Could be anything from an hour's labour and some sundries to a day. Plus how good the installer is.
