They cannot. I have an app for the 14 year olds. They have been unable to break in for 10 years. There is no prospect they ever will. This is actually a problem, because app distribution becomes impossible except at great cost of advertisement.

As a rule, no network connected security systems can be broken into because the master key is physically stored on the manufacturer's property. To compromise that, you have to physically break into that. Modern car-tool laptops are connected systems. These connect to the manufacturer first before being allowed to proceed. Any stolen laptop can then be barred by the manufacturer server. I think MOT test stations work by the same principle and they have been like that for more than 20 years.

Not pretending. My car has K-line. I don't even know what k-line is, much less what canbus is. I don't watch TV, and youtube has never recommended k-line nor canbus. So, I am in the dark.
I will believe it when I see it. I have never had a car stolen nor know anyone who had one stolen. So, the possibility is not something I think about. There are cameras all over London. This could be the reason why theft might be rare.
