Fuse blown in fusebox for lighting circuit

Hi,
I'm a novice to all this and this morning when switching off a light the fuse for the lighting circuit blew. The box is ancient and I'll need to put a new bit of 5A fuse wire in. If the the fuse blows again immediately, is there a more serious problem and will I need to get an electrician in?
