Hi all,

We're looking at a light fitting which has several G4 10w bulbs in it. What is this the equivalent of in a standard wattage 'old fashioned' bulb?

Its a 10watt lamp.
4 of them give you 40watts. It is halogen so the light will be a harsher, whiter light than the old tungsten (GLS) lamps.

it is not a low energy bulb - those provide more equivalent light for the watts consumed.

Halogens are marginally more efficient than conventional incandescent bulbs. However the types of fittings halogens are typically usually used in domestically are poor for general illumination making them less effective at lighting a room than a lower power normal bulb.
