We have recently moved in to a house which has a Gainsborough shower fitted, now I am not sure if this a classed as a power shower or if it makes a difference but when we turn the shower on (it has an on/off button) the water although coming out from the shower head is also running out of the back of the unit. If we remove the shower head and turn the shower on it is fine, it is only when the head is on that the water leaks from the unit.

Does anyone have any ideas on how we can rectify the problem please?

Thanks

Jane

Its an electric shower, not usually called a power shower.

From your description it sounds as if the pressure relief device has gone. This is often caused by a kinked / blocked hose or a blocked shower head. You can get a new pressure relief device, which is part of the internal water outlet, but you should check the hose and shower head before fitting, or it will just go again. Might be worth buying a new hose and head at the same time. Try "Showerdoc" for the parts.
