I need to replace my shower but don't know what Kw the existing one is (it's a Gainsborough ES550).
Can I put a 7.2Kw one in if it is existing wiring for 8.5Kw or higher?

Yes, however you will be very disappointed by its performance, having been used to the 8.5

But I don't know if it's an 8.5Kw or not that I have! I'm only going to replace it with a 7.2kw so that hopefully it won't blow my electrics.

Does anyone out there know what Kw the Gainsborough ES550 is?

The gainsborough web site seems to be down at the moment, but their model numbers appear to begin with 8.5,9.5 0r 10.5 presumably referring to their rating.Perhaps you could try the website at a later date or ring one of the spares suppliers(google search)
