Hello,

We have just moved into a property that has an old Gainsborough Style 400x at the moment we don't really have the funds available to replace the whole unit.

Basically the shower is so poor it dribbles out of the head and when you try and was your hair the water struggles to get though.

Is there anything I can check that could be damaged or broken?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Then the shower can't be at fault then.
if the shower was to have a reduced flow it would overheat and run cold.

what are you calling a dribble ?

whats the flow like on fully cold ?
do you have to turn the dial right round to get the shower to a temp
that you can shower in ?

When you turn the shower all the way to cold the pressure does get a little bit better but still not brilliant.

Yes it takes a while to find the correct temp.

What are you thinking?

You need to disconnect the mains water pipe from the shower.
where the water pipe joins the white plastic tube of the solenoid coil.
isolate mains water, remove pipe connection and you'll see the gauze filter
inside the tube.

I can't seem to find the filter - can you tell me where it will be?

It's located in the end of the inlet sigot. Bottom R H corner.
you need to isolate the water supply and remove the supply pipe to gain access.
