Gainsgorough Delux 10.5 Strange Blockage

......Before you say get rid of it, worst make ever etc, not an option right now

So, turn the shower on and only a trickle of water comes out. Within a few seconds the shower starts to sound like a kettle boiling.
Just had the thing completely apart. No lime scale at all in the heating element.
No blockage anywhere to be seen.
Fix it back together, plumb it back in, turn it on and working perfectly again......Yessss!.
Put cover back on, jump in the shower and same.......trickle of water, starts to sound like a kettle boiling

The boiling is obviously the water overheating as it cant escape but i just cant work out why the water isn't coming out
Its not the hose or shower head as tried without those, PRD fine also

There is no solenoid in those showers, the on/off button operates a mechanical valve.
They do not have replaceable parts either - if they go wrong, you just buy the whole new insides for about £70.
 
There is a control diaphragm that sits between the input (mains) and output (heated) water that splits.
But as said these come as a complete engine and no spares are available.
