How do i turn on the chime on a galaxy panel?

I did the obvious:

CODE
ENTER
A> CHIME
ENTER
1 = ON
ENTER
ESC
ESC

do i need to re-enter the code to get it working? Or might the front door be on a different zone? The system has 2 panels, in 2 areas, so the post office can set their area at 5:30pm, shop sets their area at 11pm.

Enter your User Code and press the 2 key.
On selecting the Chime option the first zone is displayed along with its chime status (enabled
or disabled). Pressing the # key changes the chime status of the zone.
Press the A or B keys to view and program the other zones on the system.
Press the ent key to accept the programming or esc to cancel.

If you did this and it's still not working could be in a different group depending on what panel model it is ?

but as you said, depending on which panel it is.

what you have written is true for a galaxy 8 or 16, but they dont have groups

Is that the engineers instructions? Bear in mind i have a standard user number. It sounds nowt like what i did. I'll get the model number tomorrow. I think its a Galaxy 6 or 8. Cant be sure though.

It just says chime on or off. no zone options.

but if you turn chimes on (for everything) it wil surely bleep every time someone walks past a PIR?

I have my garage doors set to chime as they can be opened without getting into the house.

no such thing as a galaxy 6, only 8 + 16 (in the smaller sizes)
no the instructions posted are for the user

This is what i get:

Chime (User Type 2.3 and Above)
Purpose
The Chime mode is switched on and off by this option. When the
Chime mode is on, any zones that have been programmed by the
engineer for chime will activate momentarily when opened.
Note: Your system may not require any zones of this type.
Selecting Chime
Enter the QUICK MENU. Press key 2 followed by the ent key. The
display shows the ON/OFF status of the Chime mode. Press the >A
key to toggle between the states and press the ent key to accept the
selection.
Note: Keys 1 AND 0 can also be used to select ON and OFF
respectively.
Chime In Operation
When switched ON, the Chime mode remains active until switched
OFF again. Zones that have been programmed with the chime attribute
by the engineer continue to chime when they are activated.
Note: The Chime mode is suspended while the system is set or
during an alarm

However it says the zone must be programmed to be chime enabled first. Which i dont think it is. Oh well. Worth a try. :(

but that is for a g3, its not the same as yours

on a g 8 & 16 i think you (the user) can selecect which ccts chime, and you did say you think its a galaxy 6 (which doesnt exist but a galaxy 16 does)

g2 and g3 are the latest versions of galaxy.

they should not be confused with the older galaxy 8, 8+, 16, 16+, 18, 60, 500 or 512

The panel was new in january and now i think on, im sure its a galaxy 3. It says my name when i go into codes. but i escaped quickly, i didnt want to do owt wrong.

I'll look on the box tomorrow, see what model number.

oh.

dont worry you will not screw it up, you can view what you like, so long as you do not press enter it will not accept what you just did
