Hi
i bought a cqr sounder which i mistakenly bought the sounder version only instead of speaker/sounder so that i could hear the entry exit tones outside the door when setting. . however that worked fine on intruder activation and sounded.
i now have the speaker/sounder version however the additional 2 speaker terminals at the top say audio in and audio in.
can someone confirm do i still wire red to +12 to one audio input and the other to output as it says 'unpowered' speaker on the manual and then still have the output zone programmed as e/e
also does this speaker have to be wired back to OP3 on the flex panel or can i use op3 on the c072 rio which is where i set connected the original sounder model to.
thanks in advance

The speaker should be wired between +12v on one terminal and OP3 on the other. The OP3 is configured to pulse 12v to give speaker tones. The RIOs can't be configured this way, so it needs to be OP3 on the panel. If you extend the speaker wire from OP3 it's best to be a separate cable as any induction from other sources will cause the speaker to give background noise.

I did try that. the cqr has a connector block top right black and red cable and manual shows both as audio in. I put black to op3 on main panel and red to +12v output function set to entry exit. Set system and no sound. Went into test mode and still no sound on output. Volume setting set to max. It's set to latch and positive I think it was. Panel need rebooting after changes?

Don't set OP3 to DC. It needs set as speaker. Setting to DC and connecting to a speaker will blow the speaker with a constant 12v.

If you measure DC voltage with your meter between +12v and OP3 you should get a few volts output reading when the exit timer is counting down

Which menu setting is that in? In the menu i went to the *99 output as that's what the manual says to program on the output type as e/e

Just leave that setting as horn. It will do exit tones and other tones. It's usually a bit too loud for domestic though. The other DC setting is in menu 51 I think. I haven't got the manual handy.

Menu 51 82 is set to 1=speaker sp that's okand the output menu 53 is set to entry exit. So with the choc block connectors on the speaker am I connecting OP3 and 0v or OP3 and +12V?

When I close the door I can't hear the system set beeps hence the speaker. I know the ones we have at work just replicate the beeping when the system is set and unset. They certainly are loud on intruder though!

All sorted and volume set to 10 and is perfect. Thank you.
