Hi,
I have a galvanised up & over garage door that is flaking in places so I'm going to sand it all down and feather in the bare patches. Then I will need to etch prime the bare galvanised areas before going over it all with white gloss.

What etch primer should I use ?

De-grease the bare areas first.

Last one i did i got some zinsser 123 tinted to match the undercoat

If you look at the galv if it has a sort of shimmering effect it will indicate that the door has been etched.

Carefull you don't rub the galvanising too much , you could break through to the steeel and rust will form very quickly ;)

I use 123 like dcdec. ;)

The previous coat of paint has stuck to it .. but only peeled in 10 or so places so I assume those areas need priming ?

Sounds like the 123 stuff is what's needed after a light rub down to feather the peeled edges ?
