I'm looking for trunking that's 80-100 x 40-50mm.

I know about the Legrand Salamandre range, but they're having a laugh with the price.

Can anybody point me at alternatives?

Apologies I'm sure for not answering as quickly as you think I should have

I need to run some cables from one floor to another, not in a "safe" zone. Arguably they wouldn't actually count as being concealed in a wall but I'd rather put them in metal trunking, and that size would fit neatly.

BAS
Since metal trunking is an exposed-conductive-part, and there is no exemption to provide fault protection under 410.3.9, you will of course be complying with 411.3.1.1 and chapter 54 generally, with particular note to 543.3.3 won't you :?: :D

Is it, if I'm not running singles in it?

Not that I was planning to proceed on the basis that it wasn't...

Awww....

I was going to connect it to the phase meter tail to teach anybody who drilled into it a lesson. Are you going to be a spoilsport and tell me that I can't?

Yes :D.

Just reminding you of a few requirements - the sheathed cable idea sounds like another NICEIC invention, similar to their argument for cable tray :D. Still the new EMC requirements will probably put pay to all of that - when they eventually come out.

Did they invent twin & earth cable?

I know about 412.2.4.1 - but this is a relatively new regulation - the opposite used to be true i.e. the sheath was only considered as protection - and protection of the basic insulation was not available as a method of complying - as it is now in 412.2.4.1 (ii) (a).

The good old days :D.

EMC considerations are likely to require that all metal containment systems are connected to the MET - I have not seen them yet but this is what some are saying.

I have also heard a whisper that the Irish have done some research that could prove that supplementary bonding in bathrooms is still to be preferred over RCD protection - that will cause some red faces :D

Unitrunk do a 100x50 and are quite resonable on price.
Over £100 for 3m of 100x50.... :?

I guess I need to reset my price expectations - struggling to work out why 3m of 100x100 is <£30, and 3m of 100x50 is over 3½x that....

I don't have to have a single compartment - looks like 2 lengths of 41x41 Unistrut-type channel side-by-side could be the way to go.

(Having done due diligence checking the space factors, before anyone asks  )

how big a piece do you need?
i might be able to get the guys at work to bend me some to spec.. ( 3m is benders max... )
