Hello,

I have a patio that is lovely and clean from a pressure washer but some of the grout between the slabs has now been washed away. My wife tells me that there is some stuff that can be put in the gaps and then watered to set - does anybody know what this stuff is called and whether it is any good or not?

Thanks for your help with this.

Sand + cement = mortar, which is what is used between slabs. You might be thinking of a product called Geofix (if I recall correctly) which can also be brushed in and sets rock hard by itself. I have not used the latter but have heard its no good. Others might tell you more on that.

The only GOOD way to re-point slabs is to use a damp mix of building sand + cement, pressed into the gaps and smoothed with a proper pointing tool (or a suitable wood dowel or even a stub of hosepipe if you are mean!) Use sand:cement 4:1. There's plenty of posts covering pointing patios. Use the search option.

as wabbit poo says. Goefix is ****e in a box dont touch it

I wish I'd read that before I pointed my patio with Goefix...it has'nt even lasted 2 years.

Thanks to you all for your help and advise.

Seems to me the choices are to do it properly or use geofix and then quickly sell the house

Thanks again for all of your help
