Hi,

I am converting half of our double garage in to a reptile room for breeding.
The walls and ceiling has been insulated 50mm celotex.
Due to the reptiles needing to have a heat source as well as being misting several times a day I am a little worried about ventilation and was after some advice on how to overcome this. I was considering maybe a bathroom ventilation fan but wondered if this would be enough and if I would need one to bring fresh air in and one to push the warm humid air out.

Any advice appreciated

Kind regards
Darren

You need the Reptile forum for responses to this, rather than the Building forum!

Possibly - but how many non-reptile breeders would know how much ventilation to apply, and at what temperature and humidity?

If it was a bathroom, you would have one extractor at a high level, and some method for air to enter at a low level, such as a gap under the door or a fixed vent. The extractor and inlet vent being as far apart as possible to ensure all of the air in the room is changed.

Two fans are not necessary, and are likely to cause problems.

As for how much ventilation for reptiles - unknown.
