We installed this motor about 3 years ago. The old one had become toothless on the nylon gears.
We needed something quickly and the doortronic rep happened to live 10 minutes away. We had minor problems and a complete unit failure early on.
The worst design fault is that there is no backup memory for occasions when we have a power failure. The stupid motor looses its memory for the open and close position.
Now the courtessy light is not coming on anymore when the motor runs.
Does anyone have any experience with the lovely liftking 800?

I don't have any experience of the type of opener you have, but I would have thought that replacing the motor controller with a generic one was possible. Have you tried google, there seem to be many options.

If you say replace the motor controller, do you mean the whole drive or are you talking about the circuit board?
The motor is controlled by a circuit board. If this is the problem I am not sure how this can swapped for some aftermarket part unless it is the same spec.

Yes it is the spec you need to investigate. It does not necessarily have to be fixed to the motor assy but could be remote from it.
