Garage Electric Supply

Then like this

SPUR FROM HOUSE RING FINAL > 13A Switched fused spur > SWA CABLE 2.5mm will be fine > double socket in garage > 5A Switched fused spur acting as light switch > light.

Your challenge will be glanding the SWA corectly at each end. In the garage its fairly easy if the socket is a metalclad type. At the house end you'll need either an external FCU that takes a 20mm SWA gland or a suitable external box. The WISKA boxes are also good for this.
Dont think of bending the SWA to get through the wall, SWA isnt bendy enough!

The fused switched spur in the garage, do I wire it in as a normal lighting circuit with live and switched live going to it (inc cpc) or do I run live and neutral to the supply side of it and live neutral from the light to the load side? Hope I've explained that well enough.

Locate the FCU where you want it - it is going to be your light switch!
Live neutral and earth to the supply side

From the load side simply take LN&E to your light.
Put 3 or 5 amp fuse in FCU.

If you are struggling with this, with respect, I doubt your ability to correctly install and gland the SWA cable.

Thanks Taylor, out of habit I started wiring it in as a normal light switch as you would on the radial light circuit in the house.
