Hey there everyone hope your all well.

On this Sunday afternoon because the weather is nice I thought I’d do a bit of investigation as too why the garden at the back corner of the garage is always a bit wet.

So after some digging I’ve come across the problem of,

The garage guttering downspout black pipe goes into a underground orange pipe, this pipe has a 90 degree bend at the bottom and then….. nothing! It’s a Wainhomes new build and has been built since oct 2020. Should this be like this? Or should this orange pipe be connected in some way too a underground pipe system? I’ve if a few holes around the area too try and find some sort of pipe work and there is nothing I can see around the area? Any help would be great!

As above, that has been purposely done like that, (have seen (possibly genuine) mistakes on foul drains where they've put a stub of pipe out from the foundations before laying the oversite, then forgotten to connect it up afterwards when the rest of the drainage was put in. Rainwater is different, can be put in at any time once the wall is up to DPC height, the fact they've put a short stub of pipe in the outlet of the bend says it's deliberate.

That is not acceptable, possibly lazy Groundworks Company trying to cut corners. Get the Builders to rectify correctly at their expense, and needs joining to the rainwater drainage system if thats where the rest of it goes, if they try and put a soakaway in the garden as its cheaper/easier for them you may end up with a permanently boggy garden in winter.

Claim on the Buildmark or whatever warranty. That should have been inspected and signed off.
