I'm going to have an oak framed garage built. I'm about to submit plans and while looking around I've seen lots of old buildings/sheds/workshops/barns with rusty looking steel roofs. For some reason I love them.

Now instead of going for the normal slate/clay tile is there an insulated roofing option I can go for? Insulated black stainless type thing? Or something else? I do not want condensation dripping down on me :)

Or what about covering the roof with OSB or ply, then 50mm battens with a condensation membrane with uninsulated steel on top? Idea being that the steel has air movement underneath, the osb would 'trap' anything that did try to drip?

Build yourself a flat roof and then fix your sheets on top using counter batons.

I'm not having a flat roof as it wont get planning and I want the roof space.

Going on this

You can do the same with a flat or pitch roof all your doing then is cladding over an existing roof.

Its a new build, all 'trusses' are there etc. How would a proper sheet roof compare cost wise?
