Hi,
I am in the process of building an insulated double brick garage (6m x 7m). After a disagreement with the builders I have been left to finish the slab myself. The architects plan shows the make up of the slab from ground up: hardcore (unspecified thickness), sand blinding (min 25mm), dpm, 100mm insulation, dpm and finally 150mm concrete.
My problem is before the builders left they laid the hardcore and sand blinding but upon investigation I have found the hardcore thickness to be 3"- 4" on top of back filled stoney soil. Will this be adequate as to avoid digging it all up and starting again. Also would there be any benefit in digging around the perimeter and adding thicker hardcore there?
Thanks in advance.
