I've got a problem with an iron garden chair. This is the sort of iron garden chair that comes in a set with a wrought iron garden table. The legs are fixed to the seat using screws. One of the screws is loose and the leg keeps falling off when sat on.
I've tried padding the hole where the screw goes in but the fastening is not stable.
Is there some resin or other substance that could be put into the screw-hole to enable the screw to be fixed firmly?

Drill a slightly larger hole, and tap it for a new bolt.

Make sure that you size the drill correctly for the tap. A good tool shop will advise or the tap may indicate what size drill to use.

or you could make the hole and the screw very very very clean and grease-free, de-rust with wire wool or wire brush, clean again with white spirit and allow to dry for a day, then pack the hole with Araldite and thread the bolt in, leave it unmoved for a day while it hardens. You need to get the aralidite deep into the hole, but not so much that it blocks it and prevents the bolt going right in. Push a pencil or something into the hole to displace any excess, if it can't squeeze out the other end. Putting it on the bolt will not do, as it will get scraped off as the bolt goes into the hole.
