Have an outside tap on the wall of a new extension and starting to get do garden done.

The missus want a bit of patio around where the tap is and I am concerned that the kids using the tap could mean water sitting against the house.

I can't get a proper drain in that location but can I do something to drain any water that might sit on the patio - doubt it would be much water at all.

Was thinking of a 6 inch drain connected to a length of pipe dropping into the ground, so effectively any water just drains in the surrounding ground.

Does this sound semi sensible or completely stupid?!

As long as the paving falls away from the building i wouldnt bother.

Maybe leave a small area beneath the tap without blocks or slabs or whatever and cover it gravel? That way at least the water might permeate a bit quicker.
