Hi,
I am looking to DIY build a Veranda in my garden and also add a roof such as the axiome polycarbonate roof. It will be about 3.8m widen by 2.8m. I have purchased 2 met posts and 2 x 100mm Square posts, also a piece of 4 x 2 for the house wall and 6 x 2 for the rafters and to join the 2 fence posts together. I have seen that the rafters are mainly fitted with a cut out over the wall beam and a small notch at the garden end called a birds beak? So I am quite clear in how I will construct it but I wondered what the best roof pitch would be? I also plan to use the rafters at 600mm centres. It must be at least 5 degree but that does not seem much would 10 or 15 be better. I do plan to add guttering also.
Thanks
