The 300 series is pretty old. I'd replace it with a new one if I were you. Mornings job plus Texecom panel - £150 ish.

If you want to save yourself 100 smackers, you could have a bash at changing it yourself, maybe an optima or 9448, something basic is easy to do, you could have it done in an hour.

Only take on this challenge if you feel up to it !

To be honest a 9448+ piece of p!!s :D

And no one has asked if the system although old is adequate for the OP at the moment.

Suggestions of a change and a cost. Was that cost for yourself or another to do?
All vague, by a pair of persons not qualified (one yet, one probably past it).

OP, the panel can be used. new batteries in both panel and external sounder would be suffice if on a budget.

A better panel with more features would be a more idea solution, but you give no idea of budget.

The one who is like the other not mentioning the dangers of electricity.

Budget not an issue but only if I have no option but to spend.had someone come and look at it,he says it needs to go back to gardtec for a chip replacement cost about £100,I would be better with a new panel and box for £130 including a service.not sure what make or model was mentioned.any advice on an alarm is appreciated.

First of all they have no idea, that panel can be reused.

If your going to go for new try the veritas from Texecom. It is similar in operation.

Add a nice new sounder,

Maybe some new detectors

Dont forget the new battery!!

Or here is a kit

Different make obviously.
