I have an ideal mini gas central heating boiler. As soon as i turn it on it starts pitching water into the expansion tank in the attic.

I can see the pump built into the boiler but i cannot see anywhere on it to turn it down.

Has anyone any ideas as to what i can do?

We need to know what model of boiler you have!

If its an Ideal Mini C24 then it should have beem imstalled on a sealed system!

I have checked the model number it is a mini S28. Should that unit be also on a sealed system?

As far as I am aware thats also meant to be only fitted on a sealed system.

They will work on an open system if there are several floors between boiler and header but otherwise the flow switch will not work reliably and there can be issues with the water boiling inside the heat exchanger.

The boiler is on the second floor of the house and the expansion tank is only 4 feet at most above the boiler in the attic.

The boiler was fitted 2 years ago and there is a lot of mositure /damp on the wooden joists above the tank. I had the new boiler fitted when i had an extension put on the house which meant 3 extra rads. It may be like this since it went in.

Could there be serious damage to the rest of the system due to this.

Paul.
