Hi, can I get opinion on whether you think a combi boiler (Vaillant ecotec pro 28) running 9 radiators in a three bedroomed house would be ok with 15mm copper pipework throughout? My rads don't ever get very hot. Advice would be appreciated. Cheers.

It all depends on the size of the rads!

Traditionally it has been the rule of thumb that 15 mm can only supply 3-4 kW but updating to condensing boiler higher differentials would increase that to 5-6 kW.

A small modern house can easily only have a heat loss of 5-6 kW now.

"Not ever getting very hot" would imply a too low boiler flow temperature or the max CH power is set too low!

Hi, its a large 3 bed house with 2 reception rooms. Longest radiator is a double 9 foot long. 6 are long, and three are square. Soz, I'm not technical at all.

I would deffo upgrade some of the pipe work to 22mm, but as tony said make sure boiler is set right.

If I was fitting heating to a well insulated larger three bed then I would have 22 mm from boiler to the split to upstairs and downstairs.

But its surprising how well systems can work when all in 15 mm.
