My gas fire, a Valient readiant type fire lights and throws out plenty of heat, for 30 minutes or so ..

But after that it just goes off by itself.

Is there a blockage somewhere ?

Is it is big job to fix ? I ask this as we were actually considereing getting a new fire anyway in the New Year after we have some other building work done. We have CH anyway.

thanks

Is that a valor radiant type?, even so more info required....it may be that it is fitted with a safety device which cuts the fire off if carbon monoxide begins to build up in the room. What ever it is I wouldn't be using it until it is properly checked out.

You are making us think about those cases where whole families are found dead from gas fire fumes. :(

Thanks for your replies.

We actually had one of those CO patches on the wall and it was always OK. Anyway, I've already contacted a CORGI guy to come and have a look at it.

If it's worth fixing, we'll do so

If not, we'll just get the new inset fire fitted instead

Regards
