Hi, just wondering about ease of access to my gas meter valve.
It's in the corner of my kitchen cupboard and if in an emergency I needed to turn off the gas lever I have to get on the floor and get part of my upper body in the cupboard to reach the lever. I can manage it but if I was an old person or not very mobile I think it would be impossible?!

Your thoughts are appreciated.

well the regs say it must be easily accessible but remember it would most definitely have been when installed so if someone has installed a cupboard around it since then it is your responsibility to make it accessible not anyone elses unless you are in rented accommodation then it is your landlords responsibility and should have been noted on the CP12 inspection

You mention it as if its outside of your control.

Its YOUR kitchen and you have both the responsibility and the obvious need to have it easily accessible.

In addition the meter needs to be accessible for checking and replacement.
