I have a large cupboard where my gas meter is.
We are thinking of converting this cupboard and the cloakroom which is just behind in a shower room/toilet. The old cloakroom would become a shower with a sliding door and the old cupboard would have a sink and a toilet. the gas meter would be just above the toilet.
Is it safe to keep the meter there?

havent got a clue but pictures and mesurements may help others

I dont see why not if its high up.

The only place its not recommended is below a kitchen sink.

But it does need to be kept accessable.

this the meter in the future room. The shower will be where the mirror is and the toilet undearneath the meter. We need to dig for the toilet waste. The main gas pipe:how does it run?is it vertically in the ground?how deep?i am just worried they are going to dig near the gas pipe.

They can dig all they like around it - just don't damage it. If it is in the way then you will have to pay National Grid or their approved contractors to move it.
