Gas meter and ECV installed above a rear door

If a gas meter and ECV are installed above a rear exit door, does this contravene Gas regulations and should it be moved due to the height and issues with reaching the ECV in the event of an emergency. Basically, you would need a chair to get to the ECV to turn off the gas.
 
Depends when it was installed. You don't mention that. Regs have changed over the years.
 
Pretty sure it wouldn't be installed like that nowadays, but at the time of the original install? it probably conformed to the regs at that time

It was described to me “if it can be knocked off with a stick, it’s ok”.
